"SB130 is able to tame the trail with its smooth, lively suspension feel. As an everyday ripper it would suit many in search of that one-bike quiver." - Brandon Turman, Vital MTB
Conceived on rowdy Colorado trails and fed a steady diet of technical climbing and high-speed descents, this bike crushes big terrain. Yeti are not suggesting you only need one bike but if you did, this should definitely be on your shortlist.
SWITCH INFINITY
At the heart of the SB130 suspension design is Yeti's patented Switch Infinity suspension system. Switch Infinity utilises a patented translating pivot that switches direction as the bike moves through its travel. This provides excellent anti-squat characteristics for superior pedaling performance and ideal suspension characteristics as it gets deeper into the travel.
TUNED FOR TRAIL PERFORMANCE
Switch Infinity has proven itself on the trail, between the tape, and in the back rooms of editor's choice rooms. The proven technology was taken and the slope of the leverage ratio was refined, making it 12.5% more progressive without effecting the anti-squat properties. This means the bike has supple small bump compliance but ramps up quicker in the mid-stroke while still allowing for full travel and bottom out control.
BUILT TO LAST
The SB130 is built to tackle any type of terrain. From buffed out singletrack, to rugged EWS race courses, it can hold its own on a huck, if you are willing. It is built for a lifetime, but you have a warranty to match just for good measure.
TRAIL INSPIRED GEOMETRY
The SB130 has progressive trail inspired geometry. Yeti took what they learnt from the SB5 and their Factory team riders and made it low, slack, and long. It is built around shorter fork offsets, the "real" headangle was slackened, and the seatube angle way was made steeper. The reach is also longer with shorter chainstays. All these elements increase the descending prowess and move the rider forward on the bike without affecting its uphill climbing ability.
SHOCK EXTENDER
The patent pending wishbone shock extender was developed to maintain a linear path on the leverage ratio while making the curve 12.5% more progressive. This gave the Switch Infinity suspension more control in the mid-stoke while keeping the small bump supple. It also allows for more shock clearance and allows for ease of access for shock fitting and replacement.
NO MORE GUNK ON YOUR BOTTLE
No more gunk on your water bottle mouthpiece, as the mount is now inside the front triangle. It took considerable time and effort to re-design and accommodate this feature.
INTEGRATED HEADSET
The SB130 employs an integrated headset which allows for a lower overall stack height and cleaner carbon layup. The cleaner carbon layup means there are no aluminum inserts and less material in the headset juncture. This all leads to a lighter, stronger front triangle.
INTERNAL ROUTING
Internally tunneled routing allows for clean lines and less translation of housing during suspension movement. It also makes servicing your bike smooth and straightforward.
TUNABLE
Switch Infinity is a versatile system easily adaptable to different travel platforms. The system can be mounted in any orientation and can achieve a myriad of kinematics depending on the design intent. For example, longer travel bikes require drastically different kinematics later in the travel (controlling wheel path trajectory). The Switch Infinity system can control this much more precisely than other suspension designs because of the linear path of the main pivot. Leverage ratio and anti-squat can also be controlled with much greater freedom than other systems.
DURABLE
The Switch Infinity is a simple, lightweight, robust system built by FOX from proven suspension components and engineered and tested to withstand the worst riding conditions. Only the best components were used in its construction - Kashima coated stanchions for low friction and durability, seals and bushings that are used in Fox’s motor sports division, and a lightweight forged translating pivot.
ANTI-SQUAT
Yeti are aiming for a relatively flat and high anti-squat curve in the beginning and mid-section of travel where pedaling commonly occurs, i.e. the pedaling zone. This creates an efficient pedaling platform through your entire pedaling zone, as opposed to one single point. After the pedaling zone, there is an inflection point where the Switch Infinity link begins to move down, dropping the anti-squat drastically. You’re typically not pedaling in this zone, so they want the chain forces to have less of an effect on the suspension performance since it’s an opposing force. Decoupling of the chain forces allows the suspension to work more efficiently to absorb impacts.
LEVERAGE RATIO
Yeti aim to design a leverage rate with linear progression. A straighter, more linear curve means it’s easier to tune shocks to pair with the suspension kinematics, and you don't have to to rely on damping circuits to compensate. Yeti chose a leverage ratio that provides small bump sensitivity and enough progression to maintain mid-stroke support and bottom out control. Being able to manipulate the leverage ratio without affecting the anti-squat characteristics is unique to a patented Switch Infinity suspension.
