Featuring a dual-diameter opposed 4-piston design, the Shimano XTR BR-M9220 provides strong, controlled braking with improved modulation and consistent stopping power on demanding terrain. The opposed piston layout helps reduce leading effect, improve pad wear and increase braking stability when riding steep descents, technical trails and fast off-road sections.
The super-lightweight forged one-piece calliper body increases rigidity while helping reduce overall weight, giving riders precise braking response without unnecessary bulk. An anti-rattle pad structure with a wider pad back plate and narrower ovalised pad pin hole helps improve brake feel and reduce unwanted noise on rough trails.
Designed for versatile setup options, this post mount hydraulic disc brake calliper can be used on the front or rear of compatible mountain bikes with a choice of adapters and rotor sizes. For optimum braking performance, Shimano recommends use with Ice Tech Centre Lock rotors in 160mm, 180mm or 203mm options.
The BR-M9220 is compatible with Shimano Ice Tech brake pads in resin or sintered compounds, with optional aluminium radiation fin pads available for improved heat dissipation and reduced brake surface temperature. It also includes P03A-RF resin pads with fins for dependable heat control and smooth braking performance.
With easy one-way oil bleeding, shim-less mounting and compatibility with Shimano Low Viscosity Mineral Oil, the Shimano XTR BR-M9220 brake calliper is engineered for consistent piston movement, stable lever feel and reliable braking force across a wide range of riding conditions.
