When you throw a leg over the all-new SB150, you'll find it rides strikingly similar to nothing. It is difficult to put into a category. Some may say it's too slack, too low, too long, too different. Riders who push this bike quickly become accustomed to their newfound capability.
SWITCH INFINITY
At the heart of the SB150 suspension design is Yeti's patented Switch Infinity suspension system. Switch Infinity utilises a patented translating pivot that switches direction as the bike moves through its travel. This provides excellent anti-squat characteristics for superior pedaling performance and ideal suspension characteristics as it gets deeper into the travel.
TUNED FOR ENDURO PERFORMANCE
Switch Infinity has proven itself on the race course amassing more EWS wins that any other system. Yeti took that winning heritage and made the leverage ratio more progressive (but not too progressive) to provide greater compatibility with modern shocks and various rider weights/styles. In addition the bike has better small bump compliance, ramps up quicker in the mid-stroke for a playful supportive feel, while still allowing for full travel and bottom out control. Thanks to Switch Infinity the anti-squat and pedaling efficiencies remain superb.
TESTED TO DH STANDARDS
The SB150 is built Richie Rude tough. The frame meets Yeti DH testing standards, well beyond what others do for a 150mm trail bike. This thing will last for a lifetime, but we gave you a warranty to match just for good measure.
PROGRESSIVE GEOMETRY
The SB150 has progressive enduro inspired geometry. Yeti took what they learnt from the SB6 and their Factory team riders and made it low, slack, and long. It is designed for shorter fork offsets, the "real" headangle was slackened and the seatube angle was made to be way steeper. The reach is also longer with shorter chainstays. All these elements increase the DH prowess and move the rider forward on the bike. But these advantages are not one sided. The steeper seat angle, short fork offset, and forward riding position also keeps the front wheel on the ground, the power to the pedals and the steering quick and nimble when climbing.
SHOCK EXTENDER
The patent pending wishbone shock extension was developed to maximise standover, maintain kinematics, fit a water bottle in the frame and allow easy access when replacing or servicing the shock. A shock extender was also developed that’s certified by FOX to accept a coil shock.
NEW WATER BOTTLE LOCATION
The water bottle fits comfortably inside the front triangle, where you might be used to looking for it. It took considerable effort to accommodate a bottle, optimise stand-over and meet Yeti's kinematic expectations.
INTERNAL ROUTING
Internally tunneled cable routing allows for clean lines and a quiet, rattle-free ride. It also makes servicing your bike quick and easy.
TUNABLE
Switch Infinity is a versatile system easily adaptable to different travel platforms. The system can be mounted in any orientation and can achieve a myriad of kinematics depending on the design intent. For example, longer travel bikes require drastically different kinematics later in the travel (controlling wheel path trajectory). The Switch Infinity system can control this much more precisely than other suspension designs because of the linear path of the main pivot. The leverage ratio and anti-squat can also be controlled with much greater freedom than other systems.
DURABLE
The Switch Infinity is a simple, lightweight, bombproof system built by FOX Racing Shox from proven suspension components and engineered and tested to withstand the worst riding conditions. Only the best components were used in its construction - Kashima coated stanchions for low friction and durability, seals and bushings that are used in FOX’s off-road racing division, and a lightweight forged translating pivot.
ANTI-SQUAT
Yeti are aiming for a relatively flat and high anti-squat curve in the beginning and mid-section of travel where pedaling commonly occurs, i.e. the pedaling zone. This creates an efficient pedaling platform through your entire pedaling zone, as opposed to one single point. After the pedaling zone, there is an inflection point where the Switch Infinity link begins to move down, dropping the anti-squat drastically. You’re typically not pedaling in this zone, so they want the chain forces to have less of an effect on the suspension performance since it’s an opposing force. Decoupling of the chain forces allows the suspension to work more efficiently to absorb impacts.
LEVERAGE RATIO
Yeti aim to design a leverage rate with linear progression. A straighter, more linear curve means it’s easier to tune shocks to pair with the suspension kinematics, and you don't have to to rely on damping circuits to compensate. You can choose a leverage ratio that provides small bump sensitivity and enough progression to maintain mid-stroke support and bottom out control. Being able to manipulate the leverage ratio without affecting the anti-squat characteristics is unique to Yeti's patented Switch Infinity suspension.
